Rhode Island College Earns Highest Finish Ever
in Directorsí Cup Standings


Providence, RIóThe Rhode Island College varsity athletic program placed 97th (103 points) among 430 Div. III institutions in the annual United States Sports Academy Directorsí Cup standings for the 2006-07 year. It is the highest finish in school history.


Colleges and universities earn points for NCAA team and individual appearances and championships. The Rhode Island College menís basketball team reached the Elite 8 of the NCAA Div. III Menís Basketball Tournament, while the softball team won the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament New England Region and advanced to the National Championship Round. Junior Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) was the New England Champion at 141 lbs. in wrestling, competed at the NCAA Div. III Wrestling Championships and garnered All-American honors.
