2007 Rhode Island College Menís Golf Season Summary
Overall Record: 14-3; Second Place at the Alliance Championships

 

Providence, R.I.óHead Coach Greg Gammellís menís golf team finished the 2006-07 season with an overall record of 14-3, recording the most wins and highest winning percentage in a season in program history.

 

The Anchormen placed second at the inaugural Little East Conference/Great Northeast Athletic Conference Alliance Championship on Apr. 27. RIC was 6-2 during the fall and 8-1 during the spring campaign. The Anchormen placed 29th at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships, the highest finish in school history.

 

RIC established another school record with the lowest score in program history on Apr. 28, downing Anna Maria and Becker with a mark of 299.

 

Senior Tim Carpentier (Smithfield, RI) closed out his career, averaging a score of 84.3 during the fall season over nine contests. He shot a season-low score of 77, during first round action of the NEIGA Championships.

 

As a junior in 2005-06, he averaged a score of 85.9 in eight matches during the fall. He shot a career-low score of 75 in the Sept. 30 tri-match vs. Johnson and Wales and Wentworth. He earned medalist honors with a score of 78 in the Oct. 7 match vs. Mitchell. During the spring campaign, Carpentier averaged a score of 89.0 in two matches. He shot a season-low score of 85 in the wins over Mass. College of Liberal Arts and Wesleyan on Apr. 13.

 

As a sophomore in 2004-05, Carpentier played in all five matches during the fall and averaged a score of 85.6 for the season. He shot a season-low score of 81 at the Oct. 5 quad-match with Worcester State, Brandeis and Wentworth. During the spring, he was named the team MVP and averaged a score of 85.0 in three matches. He fired a season-low score of 84, sharing medalist honors, vs. Johnson & Wales/Wentworth on Apr. 20.

 

As a freshman in 2003-04, he averaged a score of 93.0 in four matches on the season. He shot a season-low score of 89 in the Sept. 24 match vs. Roger Williams. During the spring, Carpentier averaged a score of 99.0 in three matches for the season. He shot a season-low score of 87 vs. Wesleyan on Apr. 20.

 

He is an elementary education major with a concentration in math and a 2002 graduate of Woonsocket High School.

 

Senior Sean DeSilva (West Warwick, RI) closed out his career, averaging a score of 82.2 in 14 matches on the year. He averaged a score of 83.7 in six contests during the fall and a mark of 81 in eight dates in the spring. DeSilva was the medalist twice, firing a 78 at Mitchell on Sept. 13 and an 83 at the Johnson and Wales Invitational on Apr. 20. He shot a season-low score of 75 in day one of the Babson Invitational on Apr. 22.

 

As a junior in 2005-06, DeSilva played in each of the teamís eight matches in the fall and averaged a score of 83.4. He shot a career-low score of 74 in the Sept. 30 tri-match vs. Johnson and Wales and Wentworth. During the spring, he competed in three matches. He averaged a score of 83.7. He fired a season-low score of 81 twice, first in the win over Newbury on Apr. 19 and then again at the Blazer Invitational on Apr. 28.

 

As a sophomore in 2004-05, DeSilva played in all five matches in the fall and averaged a score of 84.8. He shot a season-low score of 82 at the Sept. 27 tri-match against Nichols College and Elms College. During the spring, he averaged a score of 88.0 in three matches. He fired a season-low score of 86 vs. Johnson & Wales and Wentworth on Apr. 20.

 

He is a photography major with a minor in art history and a 2002 graduate of West Warwick High School.

 

Senior Shawn Rebocho (Albion, RI) closed out his career, averaging a score of 80.1 in 16 matches on the season. He averaged an 82.7 in eight contests in the fall, shooting a season-low score of 78 twice. Rebocho averaged a score of 78.5 over eight matches in the spring. He earned medalist honors twice, logging a career-low score of 71 in the tri-match vs. Elms and Wentworth on Apr. 11 and again at Becker on Apr. 28. For his efforts, he was named the teamís MVP.

 

As a junior in 2005-06, he played in seven matches and averaged a score of 78.9 in the fall. He shot a score of 63 (par three course), earning medalist honors in the Sept. 30 tri-match vs. Johnson and Wales and Wentworth. During the spring, he competed in all five of the teamís matches and averaged a score of 79.8. Rebocho was the medalist twice this season, sharing the honor with a score of 80 in the quad-meet with Worcester State, Becker and Brandeis on Apr. 10, and then firing a season-low score of 77 in the wins over Mass. College of Liberal Arts and Wesleyan on Apr. 13.

 

As a sophomore in 2004-05, he played in all five matches and averaged a team-low score of 82.0. He shot a season-low score of 76, earning medalist honors, in the Johnson and Wales match on Oct. 1. Rebocho was also the medalist, shooting a score of 82, against Newbury on Sept. 23. During the spring, he averaged a score of 84.0 in three matches. He was the medalist, firing a season-low score of 77 vs. Wesleyan/Nichols on Apr. 18.

 

As a freshman in 2003-04, Rebocho averaged a team-low score of 82.0 in four matches on the season. He shot a season-low score of 79 in the Sept. 24 match vs. Roger Williams. During the spring, he averaged a score of 85.0 for the season. He was the medalist, shooting an 83, in the tri-meet vs. Nichols and Brandeis on Apr. 19.

 

He is an accounting major and a 2003 graduate of Lincoln High School.

 

Junior Skylah Elman-Jones (Pawtucket, RI) saw action in one meet in the spring, shooting a 93 in the tri-meet vs. Anna Maria and Becker on Apr. 28.

 

Junior Derrick Garforth (Tiverton, RI) competed in 11 contests this season and averaged a score of 86.7. He competed in seven matches in the fall, averaging a score of 87.9, while averaging an 85.0 in four contests during the spring. He shot a season-low score of 79 at Mitchell on Sept. 13.

 

Junior Michael Onischuk (Garfield, NJ) saw action in one match during the fall, shooting a 99 at the Nichols Invitational on Oct. 11.

 

Sophomore Lionel Noel (West Warwick, RI) saw action in 12 contests this season, averaging a score of 79.6. During the fall, he averaged a score of 78.3 in eight matches, while logging an 82.5 average in four contests in the spring. He shot a season-low score of 72, earning medalist honors, at Newbury on Sept. 22. Noel was the medalist at the Wesleyan, Wentworth and Brandeis quad-meet on Oct. 5 with a 75 and again at the Worcester State, Brandeis and Wesleyan quad-meet on Apr. 6 with a score of 76.

 

Sophomore R.J. Tassoni (Greenville, RI) competed in eight contests in the spring, averaging a score of 82.2. He shot a season-low score of 71, sharing medalist honors with Shawn Rebocho, at Becker on Apr. 28.

 

Freshman Barrett Kern (Pawtucket, RI) saw action in 12 contests this season, averaging a score of 84.0. He saw action in five meets in the fall, averaging a score of 82.2, while posting a 95.1 mark in seven contests in the spring. He shot a season-low score of 73 at Newbury on Sept. 22.
