Five Rhode Island College Wrestlers
Place at Doug Parker Invitational

 

Springfield, MAŚFive Rhode Island College wrestlers placed in the top six in their respective weight classes at the annual Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday, Nov. 18. Head Coach Jay Jones team placed eighth out of the 17-team field with a score of 75.50.

 

Junior Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) placed third at 141 lbs., going 4-1 at the tourney. He is currently 11-2 with 50 takedowns and five reversals on the season. Bonora has earned a riding time point in 10 of his 13 matches.

 

Senior Ian Coyne (Amston, CT) placed fourth at 165 lbs., going 6-1 at the tourney. He is currently 10-3 with 14 takedowns, nine reversals and one pin on the season.

 

Freshman Mike Martini (Cranston, RI) placed fourth at 157 lbs., going 3-2 at the tourney. Martini is currently 6-5 with 12 takedowns on the season.

 

Sophomore Brendan Casey (Lowell, MA) placed fifth at 174 lbs., going 5-2 at the tourney. He is currently 8-4 with 15 takedowns on the season.

 

Sophomore Nick Logan (Lowell, MA) placed fifth at 184 lbs., going 4-2 at the tourney. He is currently 8-4 with 15 takedowns, five reversals and one pin on the season.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will compete at New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) opponent Plymouth State on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m.
