Three 20-Point Scorers Hand Anchorwomen First Loss of the Year

     Providence, RI—Bridgewater State led wire-to-wire in a 93-76 win over Rhode Island College in women’s basketball action on Tuesday evening. The Bears earn their first win of the season and improve to 1-2, while the Anchorwomen fall to 2-1.

 

Bridgewater State shot 53 percent (31-for-58) from the field in the game and 79 percent (27-for-34) from the free throw line to earn the victory.

 

Three Bears scored 20 or more points in the win, led by junior guards Justine Farroba (North Attleboro, MA) and Melissa Murphy (Rockland, MA) who registered game-high 21 point efforts. Farroba, who was four-for-six from behind the three-point arc, added six assists, three boards and two steals. Murphy was 11-for-13 from the free throw line to go along with six boards, four assists and three steals.

 

Junior forward Caitlin Feeney (Providence, RI) recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals and three assists. Senior forward Catie Furtado (Taunton, MA) had 19 points and seven rebounds.

 

Freshman guard Alice Mullen (Saunderstown, RI) scored a career-high 19 points in a losing effort for the Anchorwomen. Senior forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) registered a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play at Wellesley on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
