GEISLER NETS 1,000th CAREER POINT IN RIC VICTORY
Senior Forward Becomes 11th Member of RIC 1,000 Point Club

     Chestnut Hill, MA—Rhode Island College senior forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) scored her 1,000th career point in the Anchorwomen’s, 69-58, win over Pine Manor on Thursday evening. Geisler currently has 1,005 career points and is the 11th Anchorwoman to accomplish this feat. She totaled seven points, a game-high 10 boards, two blocks, one assist and one steal in the win.

 

Rhode Island College had to withstand a second-half comeback by the Gators. The Anchorwomen doubled up PMC, 42-21, in the first half, and were outscored, 37-27 in the final frame. RIC shot a torrid 60.7 percent (17-for-28) from the floor to jump out to a 21-point first half advantage, while limiting the Gators to 37.5 percent (18-for-48) for the contest.     

 

Junior forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) posted a team-high 11 points, to go along with five boards, two blocks and a steal. Senior forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) chipped in with seven points, six boards and two assists. Junior guard Sarah Coughlin (Attleboro, MA) dished out eight assists in the win. Junior forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) was a force on a defense with four steals and six boards.

 

Three Gators scored in double figures led by Angelica Camacho’s game-high 21 points. Laura Cecil scored 13, while Amanda Dennis added 10 points.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Little East Conference rival UMass Boston on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m.
