DANIELI & GEISLER COMBINE TO K.O. COLONIALS
Anchorwomen Earn Valuable Conference Victory

     Providence, RI—Rhode Island College downed Western Connecticut State, 67-56, in collegiate women’s basketball action at The Murray Center on Tuesday evening. The Anchorwomen up their record to 10-6 overall and 2-4 in the Little East Conference, while the loss drops the Colonials to 10-6 overall and 3-3 in league play.

 

RIC held a solid lead to open the second half, but a 10-0 run by the Colonials with 11:36 left to go in regulation gave Western a, 34-30, lead. The Anchorwomen came back with a 12-0 run of their own to take a, 42-34, lead with 8:14 left in the stanza and never looked back.

 

Senior forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) logged her sixth double-double of the season with a 17-point, 14-rebound effort. Junior forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) led all scorers with 18 points to go along with six boards, two assists, two steals and a block. Junior point guard Sarah Coughlin (Attleboro, MA) had 10 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals. Senior forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) came off the bench to contribute 10 points, six boards, three assists and two steals.

 

Western Connecticut freshman forward Katie Moffo (Southington, CT) led all scorers with a game-high 24 points to go along with nine boards. Junior guard Ally Greenwood (East Hartford, CT) had 10 points and dished out a game-high six assists.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Little East rival Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m.
