ANCHORWOMEN VICTORY
RIC Sweeps Season Series From Plymouth State

     Providence, RIóRhode Island College senior forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) notched her eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 14 points and 15 rebounds as the Anchorwomen downed Plymouth State, 72-54, at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon. RIC improves to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in the Little East Conference, matching their win total from last year (12-14) with at least seven games remaining. Plymouth State falls to 5-14 overall and 1-8 in the conference circuit.

 

RIC led, 38-26, at the half, and junior forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) keyed an 8-3 run to open the second stanza. Danieli scored six of her 14 points during the run as the Anchorwomen ran away with the game. Rhode Island College, which led by as many as 22 points, shot 49 percent from the field (16-for-31) and outrebounded the Panthers, 46-33, in the win.

 

Rhode Island College junior guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA) scored 10 points and dished out a game-high nine assists, while Danieli chipped in with five helpers.

 

Plymouth State senior forward Kaitlin Linehan (South Boston, MA) had eight points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Karly Gray (Southampton, MA) had nine points.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Mitchell on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
