RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK PLACES NINTH AT ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

Medford, MA—The Rhode Island College women’s indoor track and field team took part in the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Tufts on Saturday, February 10. The Anchorwomen tied for ninth overall (10 teams) with 19.0 points and fifth in the Little East (five teams) with a team score of 22.0.

 

Sophomore Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in two events. She placed first the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:12.58 and fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.54 meters.

 

Freshman Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in two events. She placed sixth in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw with distances of 10.09 and 11.10 meters, respectively.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will take part in the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16-17.
