2006-07 Women’s Gymnastics Season Summary

(1-14 Overall; 1-8 in the ECAC)

 

Providence, RI—Head Coach Bob Nannig's team finished the 2006-07 season with a 1-14 overall record and a 1-8 mark against ECAC Div. III competition. The team placed seventh (eight teams) at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships with a score of 172.650 on Mar. 10. The Anchorwomen snapped a 43-match losing streak in a 173.475-158.700 win at Wilson College on Mar. 4.

 

Senior Melissa Jones (Cranston, RI) averaged scores of 8.675 on vault, 8.222 on beam and 8.450 on floor for the season. She posted season-high scores of 8.900 on vault, 8.700 on beam and 8.750 on floor at Wilson on Mar. 4.

 

As a junior in 2005-06, Jones competed as a vault specialist who averaged a score of 8.654 on that event. She posted a season-high mark of 9.100 on vault vs. Southern Connecticut on Jan. 21.

 

As a sophomore in 2004-05, averaged scores of 8.991 on vault, 7.733 on bars, 9.100 on beam, 8.870 on floor and 34.050 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 9.150 on vault and 8.500 on bars at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. She posted season-high marks of 9.100 on beam and 34.050 in the all-around at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22. Jones’ top floor mark of the season was 9.250 at the West Chester Tri on Mar. 12.

 

As a freshman in 2003-04, Jones averaged scores of 8.971 on vault, 7.488 on bars, 8.128 on beam, 8.918 on floor and 33.380. She posted season-high marks of 9.275 on vault vs. Southern Connecticut, 7.950 on bars vs. Brown/Bridgeport, 8.750 on beam vs. Bridgeport, 9.250 on floor vs. Brown/Bridgeport and 34.425 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships.

 

She is a communications major and a 2002 graduate of Cranston High School West.

 

Senior Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) averaged scores of 8.943 on vault, 8.675 on beam and 9.029 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.100 on vault and 9.375 on floor at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 10 and 9.425 on beam vs. Wilson on Mar. 4

 

As a junior in 2005-06, she qualified for the 2006 NCGA Championships as a beam specialist from the East Region. It was Joseph’s first trip to the NCGAs. She tied for 11th place on beam with a score of 9.425 after the first day (Mar. 24) of competition. The top 14 on each event advanced to the second day of competition. Joseph posted a score of 8.475 (13th) during day two of competition.

 

For the season, Joseph averaged scores of 8.554 on vault, 8.839 on beam and 8.875 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.075 on vault vs. the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 2 and 9.400 on floor vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 19. Her score of 9.450 on beam at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 11 was a career-high mark for her and tied for the fifth-best score in school history on that event.

 

As a sophomore in 2004-05, Joseph averaged scores of 8.880 on vault, 7.763 on bars, 8.414 on beam, 9.075 on floor and 34.275 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 9.075 on vault vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 19. Her score of 9.400 on beam and 34.700 in the all-around vs. Springfield on Mar. 6 were season-highs. Joseph posted a season-high score of 8.200 on bars vs. Southern Connecticut on Feb. 27. She posted a season-high mark of 9.425 on floor at the M.I.T. quad meet on Jan. 15.

 

As a freshman in 2003-04, averaged scores of 8.971 on vault, 7.488 on bars, 8.128 on beam, 8.918 on floor and 33.380. She posted season-high marks of 9.275 on vault vs. Southern Connecticut, 7.950 on bars vs. Brown/Bridgeport, 8.750 on beam vs. Bridgeport, 9.250 on floor vs. Brown/Bridgeport and 34.425 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships.

 

She is an elementary education major with a concentration in mathematics and a 2002 graduate of Coventry High School.

 

Senior Kristina Lemanis (Smithtown, NY) averaged scores of 7.769 on bars, 8.196 on beam and 7.846 on floor. She recorded season-high scores of 8.250 on bars vs. Wilson on Mar. 4, 8.550 on beam at the RIC quad-meet on Jan. 20 and 8.275 on floor at the Southern Connecticut quad-meet on Feb. 11.

 

As a junior in 2005-06, Lemanis competed as a bars specialist and averaged a score of 7.678 on that event. She posted a season-high mark of 8.400 on bars at the M.I.T. tri-meet on Feb. 11.

 

As a sophomore in 2004-05, she averaged scores of 8.209 on bars and 8.625 on beam. Lemanis posted season-high marks of 8.725 on bars at the West Chester tri-meet on March 12 and 8.950 on beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

 

As a freshman in 2003-04, Lemanis averaged a score of 7.781 on bars. She posted a season-high mark of 8.500 vs. Brown/Bridgeport.

 

She is a psychology/chemical dependency major and a 2003 graduate of Smithtown High School.

 

Senior Hannah Scott (Deep River, CT) competed on bars at the Brockport tri-meet on Jan. 13 and injured her knee, sidelining her for the remainder of the season. She logged a score of 8.100 on that event.

 

As a junior in 2005-06, Scott qualified for the 2006 NCGA Championships as an all-around specialist from the East Region. It was Scott’s first trip to the NCGAs. She posted scores of 8.500 on vault (55th), 8.350 on bars (37th tie), 8.300 on beam (51st), 9.150 on floor (41st tie) and 34.300 in the all-around (23rd).

 

For the season, Scott averaged scores of 8.840 on vault, 8.410 on bars, 8.543 on beam, 8.708 on floor and 34.500 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 9.050 on vault twice, 8.875 on bars and 35.525 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 11, 9.300 on beam vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 19 and 9.325 on floor at the Ithaca tri-meet on Mar. 4.

 

As a sophomore in 2004-05, she averaged scores of 8.710 on vault, 8.269 on bars, 8.533 on beam, 9.054 on floor and 34.670 in the all-around. She posted a season-high mark of 8.950 on vault at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 19. She recorded season-high scores of 9.000 on bars, 9.350 on floor and 35.775 in the all-around vs. Southern Connecticut on Feb. 27. She posted a season-high score of 9.200 on beam vs. Bridgeport on Feb. 12.

 

As a freshman in 2003-04, Scott averaged scores of 8.609 on vault, 8.456 on bars, 8.596 on beam, 9.066 on floor and 34.772 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 8.900 on vault and 8.950 on bars vs. Southern Connecticut, 9.050 on beam at the Ithaca Invitational, 9.450 on floor vs. Brown/Bridgeport and 35.825 in the all-around vs. Southern Connecticut.

 

She is a studio art major with a concentration in medal and jewelry design and a 2003 graduate of Valley Regional High School.

 

Junior Melissa Demirjian (Warwick, RI) averaged scores of 8.572 on vault, 8.022 on bars, 8.064 on beam, 8.564 on floor and 33.318 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 8.875 on vault, 8.500 on bars and 34.225 in the all-around vs. Springfield on Jan. 28. Demirjian registered season-high scores of 8.850 on beam vs. Ithaca/Southern Connecticut on Feb. 24 and 8.850 on floor against Brown/U.R.I. on Feb. 4.

 

Junior Kaitlyn Kelleher (Plymouth, MA) was a reserve on the team.

 

Junior Caitlyn Owens (Carmel, NY) averaged scores of 7.678 on bars, 8.481 on beam and 8.183 on floor. She posted season-high scores of 8.625 on bars and 8.875 on beam at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 10 and 8.950 on floor at the Southern Connecticut quad on Feb. 11.

 

Sophomore Debbie Granara (Malden, MA) was a reserve on the team.

 

Sophomore Breanna Moroney (Metuchen, NJ) averaged scores of 9.046 on vault, 8.436 on bars, 8.518 on beam, 9.093 on floor and 35.093 in the all-around. She recorded season-high marks of 9.275 on vault, 8.650 on bars, 9.050 on beam and 35.775 in all-around vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 17 and 9.350 on floor at the Southern Connecticut quad-meet on Feb. 11.

 

Sophomore Megan Tkach (Holmdel, NJ) averaged scores of 8.550 on vault, 7.578 on bars and 7.175 on floor. She registered season-high marks of 8.550 on vault at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 10, 7.900 on bars vs. Wilson on Mar. 4 and 8.200 on floor at the RIC Quad meet on Jan. 20.

 

Freshman Megan Connor (Warwick, RI) averaged scores of 8.475 on vault, 7.400 on beam and 8.217 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 8.475 on vault at the Brockport tri-meet on Jan. 13, 7.800 on beam and 8.600 on floor at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 10.

 

Freshman Elizabeth Ann Glunt (Altoona, PA) was named the team’s MVP. She averaged scores of 8.869 on vault, 7.586 on bars, 8.758 on beam, 8.606 on floor and 33.931 in the all-around. Glunt logged season-high scores of 9.100 on vault, 9.175 on floor and 35.450 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 10, 9.300 on beam vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 17 and 8.325 on bars against Wilson on Mar. 4.

 

Freshman Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) averaged a score of 8.633 on vault, recording a season-high mark of 8.950 at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 10.

 

Freshman Kendra Lebel (Warwick, RI) averaged scores of 8.404 on vault and 7.500 on floor. She posted season-high scores of 8.825 on vault at the RIC quad-meet on Jan. 20 and 7.500 on floor at the Brockport tri-meet on Jan. 13.

 

Freshman Kelly Longo (Pembroke, MA) averaged scores of 8.208 on vault, 6.825 on bars and 7.000 on beam. She recorded season-high marks of 8.600 on vault at the RIC quad-meet on Jan. 20, 7.300 on bars at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 10 and 7.000 on beam at the Brockport tri-meet on Jan. 13.
