CARVALHO EARNS FIRST COLLEGIATE WIN
AS RIC DOWNS U.N.E., 3-0

Springfield, MA—Rhode Island College first-year Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Luis Carvalho won his first match as a collegiate coach in the Anchorwomen’s, 3-0, win over the University of New England in the team’s final match of the Springfield College Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

 

Senior middle blocker Kimiyo Garcia (Riverside, RI) and senior hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI), who have led the team all weekend, combined for 29 kills with 15 and 14, respectively. Sophomore outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) logged six kills and 13 digs, while freshman libero Mary Kate Winter (Narragansett, RI) posted a team-high 15 digs.  Senior setters Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) and Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) recorded a combined 40 assists with 24 and 16, respectively.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Brandeis University Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8.
