SILVA’S PENALTY KICK WINS IT FOR RIC
Kelley, Philbin & Sturdahl Named to All-Tournament Team

Bristol, RI—Rhode Island College junior defender Josh Silva (Dartmouth, MA) scored on a penalty kick in the 39th minute to lift the Anchormen to a 1-0 win over Utica in the consolation game of the Roger Williams Turfer Classic on Sunday afternoon.

 

Rhode Island College, which lost, 1-0, to Cabrini yesterday, outshot the Pioneers, 21-9, in the contest to even its record to 1-1 on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Dereck Loisel (Warwick, RI) made just one save to record his first collegiate shutout.

 

Sophomore midfielder Ryan Kelley (Hope, RI), freshman midfielder Adam Philbin (Cumberland, RI) and junior defender Robert Sturdahl (Coventry, RI) were all named to the Turfer Classic’s All-Tournament Team.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Roger Williams on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
