KIMIYO GARCIA NAMED LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

 

Providence, RI – Rhode Island College senior middle blocker Kimiyo Garcia (Riverside, RI) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

 

Garcia totaled 20 blocks and 52 digs through 15 games in four matches as the Anchorwomen went 4-1 last week. She also totaled 72 kills and a .401 hitting percentage to go along with five service aces.

 

For the season, she has played in 38 games in 11 matches, totaling 156 kills (4.11/game), a .370 hitting percentage to go along with 15 service aces (0.39/game), 104 digs (2.74/game) and 50 blocks (1.32/game)

 

Head Coach Luis Carvalho’s team is 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the Little East Conference. In upcoming action, RIC will play its first home contest of the season on Sept. 18, hosting Wesleyan at 7 p.m. at The Murray Center.
