Providence, RI – Rhode Island College freshman goalkeeper Maddie Pirri (Bristol, RI) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for her performance in two games.

In her first collegiate start on Oct. 3, Pirri stopped nine of the 10 shots she faced to lead the Anchorwomen to a 2-1 win and pick up her first collegiate win at Wesleyan. Three days later, she made 12 saves, including several key stops, to lead RIC to its first-ever win over Little East Conference rival Keene State, 1-0, and notch her first career shutout. RIC had not won in 10 previous meetings with the Owls. She is 2-1 with one shutout, a 1.60 goals against average, a .871 save percentage and 27 saves through 225 minutes in four appearances on the season.

Head Coach Denis Chartier’s team is currently 5-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the Little East. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Roger Williams on Monday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. at the RIC Soccer Field.
