LAURIE & HAUGHEY SCORE IN WIN OVER OWLS
Pirri Stops Eight to Earn Second Collegiate Shutout

Westfield, MA—Rhode Island College freshman midfielder Kristina Haughey (Lincoln, RI) scored with just under 14 minutes left in regulation to snap a scoreless tie and lift the Anchorwomen past Westfield State in collegiate women’s soccer action on Tuesday afternoon. Senior striker Lindsay Laurie (Warwick, RI) added an insurance goal in the 81st minute to lead RIC to a 2-0 victory.

Rhode Island College freshman goalkeeper Maddie Pirri (Bristol, RI) made eight saves, as her team was outshot, 13-6, to earn her fourth win (4-3) and her second collegiate shutout. Westfield State goalkeeper Jessie Tomich made four saves in a losing effort.

Senior midfielder Krista MacKinnon (Exeter, RI) assisted on Haughey’s goal, bringing her career total to 25, just two shy of Joan Hencler’s ’99 all-time RIC record. Senior midfielder Abby Hummel (North Kingstown, RI) assisted on Laurie's tally.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 20 beginning at noon. It will be Senior Day as RIC will honor its 10 seniors prior to the start of the game.
