RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE MENíS GOLF
PLACES 37th AT NEIGA CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

 

Brewster, MA Ė The Rhode Island College menís golf team took part in the annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (N.E.I.G.A.) Championships on Oct. 21-23 at The Captains Golf Course. The Anchormen placed 37th (43 teams) with a score of 685. The University of Rhode Island won the title with a score of 600.

 

RIC freshman Derek Jensen (Cumberland, RI) was the Anchormenís top finisher, tying for 128th overall (211 golfers) with a two-round total of 167. Sophomore Barrett Kern (Pawtucket, RI) tied for 162nd at 173. Freshman Tim Davis (Rochester, NY) tied for 167th at 174. Freshman Kevin Smith (West Hartford, CT) tied for 182nd with a score of 177, while junior R.J. Tassoni (Greenville, RI) tied for 192nd at 180.

 

Kern posted the best first round score with a 77, while Jensen logged the best second-round score with an 82.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will take part in the Little East Conference/Great Northeast Athletic Conference Alliance Championships held at North Kingstown Country Club on Oct. 26-27.
