RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE MENíS TENNIS
PLACES SEVENTH AT LEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

 

 

Bridgewater, MAóRhode Island College placed seventh (seven teams) at the 2008 Little East Conference Menís Tennis Championships, hosted by Bridgewater State on Apr. 25-26, with 6.5 points. Salem State won the title with 15 points.

 

 

Senior Lorne Teeter (Warwick, RI) went 0-2 at No. 1 singles

 

Freshman Nathan Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) went 2-1 at No. 2 singles, dropping his opening match, but rebounding to win the consolation round.

 

Freshman Eric Boffa (Greenville, RI) went 1-1 at No. 3 singles, winning in the opening round before falling to the eventual flight champion in the semifinals.

 

Senior Richard Truchon (North Scituate, RI) went 1-1 at No. 4 singles, upsetting the second seed in the opening round before falling in the semifinals.

 

Junior David Haggerty (Woonsocket, RI) went 1-1 at No. 5 singles, winning in the opening round, before falling in the semifinals.

 

Freshman Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI) went 1-2 at No. 6 singles, falling in the opening round, but rebounding to make the flight consolation final.

 

Boffa and senior Tom Lapierre (Mapleville, RI) went 0-2 at No. 1 doubles.

 

Rebello and Aiello went 1-1 at No. 2 doubles, winning in the opening round, before falling in the semifinals.

 

Teeter and Haggerty went 1-1 at No. 3 doubles, winning in the opening round, before falling in the semifinals.

 

Head Coach Joe Testaís team finished the regular season with a 6-7 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the Little East Conference.
