Robyn Albert Named ECAC Rookie Gymnast of the Week




Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman Robyn Albert (Sharon, MA) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Rookie Gymnast of the Week.








Albert led Rhode Island College on three events this past Saturday against SUNY Brockport and Springfield and was the Anchorwomen’s top all-rounder. She received a 9.075 on vault after a beautifully-stuck piked yurchenko, an 8.925 on bars, an 8.600 on beam and a 9.150 on floor.  Her all-around total was a 35.750, which placed her in second place in the meet. She has overcome ankle surgery from last year and abdominal surgery this past summer.


She is currently averaging scores of 8.963 on vault, 8.558 on bars, 8.400 on beam, 9.050 on floor and 35.750 in the all-around. She is biology/pre-med. major and a 2006 graduate of Sharon High School.


Head Coach Shannon Cornicelli’s team is currently 1-6 overall and 1-5 against ECAC Div. III opponents. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Brown with the University of Rhode Island on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.
