NOHEIMER’S DOUBLE-DOUBLE LEADS
RIC PAST PEQUOTS

            New London, CT—Rhode Island College freshman forward Stephanie Noheimer (Willimantic, CT) recorded a career-high 17 points and 13 rebounds to post her first collegiate double-double in the Anchorwomen’s, 84-59, win over Mitchell on Tuesday evening. RIC improves to 11-8 overall, while the struggling Pequots fall to 3-17.

Sophomore guard Alice Mullen (Saunderstown, RI) notched 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. Senior forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) posted 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while junior guard Tyla Martin (Cumberland, RI) logged 14 points and four assists.

 

The Anchorwomen, who only had seven players available for action, shot 52 percent (33-for-64) from the field and 80 percent (16-for-20) from the free throw line. Rhode Island College outrebounded Mitchell by 12, 40-28.

 

The win avenges a 56-51 loss suffered to Mitchell last season.

 

Sophomore guard Miah Manning (Putnam, CT) scored 16 points for the Pequots and nabbed three steals.  Classmate Jennifer Iglesias (Waterbury, CT) added 11 points.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Little East foe Plymouth State on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m.
