RIC WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT
BOSTON UNIVERSITY’S VALENTINE INVITATIONAL

 

Boston, MA—The Rhode Island College women’s indoor track and field team competed at Boston University’s Valentine Invitational on Saturday, February 9. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

Sophomore Steina Flemming (Tortola, BVI) placed 13th in both the preliminaries and finals of the 55 meters with times of 7.32 and 7.37, respectively. She also placed 52nd in the 200 meters with a time of 26.43.

Junior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) placed 15th in the high jump with a 1.63-meter effort She also placed 32nd in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:09.29.

Sophomore Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed 44th in the weight throw and 48th in the shot with efforts of 11.76 and 9.88 meters, respectively.

 

Junior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed 47th in the weight throw with an 11.40-meter effort.

 

Sophomore Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed 75th in the preliminaries of the 55 meters with a time of 8.06 and 153rd in the 200 meters with a time of 29.20.

 

Freshman Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) placed 112th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:33.60.

 

Freshmen Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) and Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed 64th and 68th in the 55 meter hurdles with time of 9.60 and 9.74, respectively.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday, February 16.
