RIC Menís Track Places Ninth Overall
and Fifth in the Little East at Alliance Championships

 

 

Gorham, MEóThe Rhode Island College menís indoor track and field team placed ninth overall (10 teams) and fifth in the Little East Conference (six teams) with 32.0 and 35.0 points, respectively, at the 2008 LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships.

 

 

Sophomore Max Willett (Portsmouth, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the high and long jump events, placing third and fifth with leaps of 1.85 and 6.28 meters, respectively.

Junior Dante Lopardo (Johnston, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the high and long jump events, placing sixth and third with leaps of 1.80 and 6.55 meters, respectively.

Senior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) and junior Hunter Stewart (Foster, RI) each earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 600 meters, placing third and fifth, respectively, with times of 1:23.99 and 1:25.79.

Junior Greg Ahnrud (Chepachet, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 1,000 meters, placing sixth with a time of 2:38.97.

Freshman Alex Burakoff (Stoughton, MA) earned All-Little East honors in the shot, placing third amongst league competitors with a distance of 12.12 meters.

In upcoming action, Head Coach Kevin Jacksonís team will compete at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Tufts, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23.
