ANCHORWOMEN DROP TWO LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE MATCHES

 

 

 

Plymouth, NHóRhode Island College saw its overall record dip to 3-10 overall and opened Little East Conference womenís volleyball action with an 0-2 mark at a tri-match hosted by Plymouth State on Saturday afternoon. Despite winning the first set in both contests, RICís opponents came back to win the next three frames.

 

 

 

The Anchorwomen dropped their first match to the hosts, 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 20-25, 14-25). Junior outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) registered six kills and 16 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) logged a team-high nine kills and 15 digs. Senior libero Jackie Gervais (Woonsocket, RI) posted a team-high 19 digs.

 

 

RIC fell to Eastern Connecticut, 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 21-25, 14-25), in its final action of the day. Heidel posted six kills, while Gervais contributed 27 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Erin St. Jacques (Warwick, RI) logged seven kills and two blocks. Classmate setter Nicole Enos (Coventry, RI) handed out 20 assists.

 

The Anchorwomen have lost seven of their last eight matches.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will head to Wesleyan on Tuesday, Sept. 23 for a 7 p.m. match.
