JOHN SHANNON NAMED ASSISTANT
MENíS BASKETBALL COACH

 

Providence, RIóRhode Island College has named John Shannon as an assistant menís basketball coach. He will assist Head Coach Bob Walsh with all phases of the RIC menís basketball program including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and game coaching.

 

ďI am excited to join a top-notch program like Rhode Island College,Ē Shannon says. ďI hope to contribute to the success that Coach Walsh has established.Ē

 

 

 

Shannon comes to the Anchormen with five years of coaching experience, most recently serving as an assistant coach at Lesley University in 2007-08. He helped guide the Lynx to the North Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Game for the first time in school history last winter.

 

Prior to that, the Skaneateles, New York native served as an AAU coach with the Bay State Magic in Stoughton, Massachusetts from 2004-07.

 

Shannon has an extensive background coaching at several prominent camps at institutions such as Xavier, Syracuse, LeMoyne and Marist.

 

He earned a bachelorís degree in history from Providence College in 2002.

 

Shannon is single and resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
