JENSEN TIES FOR THIRD OVERALL AS MENíS GOLF PLACES SECOND AT RIC INVITATIONAL

 

 

 

Providence, RIóRhode Island College sophomore Derek Jensen (Cumberland, RI) tied for third overall as the menís golf team placed second at the RIC Invitational, at Triggs Memorial Golf Course on Friday afternoon.

 

 

 

The Anchormen logged a team score of 313, which were eight strokes behind first place Nichols in a seven-team field.

Jensen fired a 76, one stroke behind Brandeis junior Lee Bloom (West Hartford, CT) and Nichols junior Shawn Santos (Agawam, MA). Senior Lionel Noel (West Warwick, RI)  and sophomore Chad Lareau (North Attleboro, MA) tied for 10th overall at 78. Freshman Mark Savastano (Swansea, MA) tied for 14th with an 81, while junior Barrett Kern (Pawtucket, RI) rounded out the RIC five tied for 17th with an 83.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships, played at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, MA on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 19-20.
