JENSEN AND LAREAU LEADS RIC AT
NEW ENGLAND GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

Brewster, MA—Rhode Island College sophomores Derek Jensen (Cumberland, RI) and Chad Lareau (North Attleboro, MA) tied for 163rd overall as the men’s golf team placed 37th at the 74th annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships, held at The Captains Golf Course on Cape Cod.

 

 

 

The Anchormen logged a team score of 691, shooting a 349 on Oct. 20 and a 342 on Oct. 21.

 

 

Jensen registered scores of 88 and 86 for a two-day total of 174, while Lareau recorded scores of 92 and 82. Bryant University placed first in the 44-team field with a score of 604.

Sophomore Bryan Picinisco (North Dartmouth, MA) tied for 168th with scores of 89 and 86 for a two-day total of 175. Junior Barrett Kern (Pawtucket, RI) shot a 96 and an 88 for a mark of 184. Senior Lionel Noel (West Warwick, RI) shot an 80 on day one before withdrawing.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, hosted by Johnson & Wales at Cranston Country Club on Oct. 24-25.
