CHRISTINA TAVANA NAMED LITTLE EAST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior midfielder Christina Tavana (Middletown, CT) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in two games.

Tavana had two goals and one assist for five points in a 1-1 week for the Anchorwomen. She scored a goal in RIC’s hard-fought, 3-2, loss to Salem State on Oct. 29. Tavana scored and assisted on the Anchorwomen’s other marker in the club’s, 2-0, shutout win over Southern Main in the season finale on Nov. 1. The win snapped a 16-game winless streak for the team. For the season, she played in 19 games, starting all of them, registering seven goals and two assists for 16 points. Tavana led the squad in goals and points.

Head Coach Mike Koperda’s team finished the season with a 2-16-1 overall record and a 1-5-1 (seventh place) mark in the Little East Conference.
