MENíS SOCCER TO FACE BABSON IN NCAA TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND ACTION

Providence, RIóThe Rhode Island College menís soccer team will play the programís first-ever NCAA Div. III Tournament game when the Anchormen will travel to Babson on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. If RIC advances, it will play the winner of RPI and Stevens Institute on Sunday, Nov. 16.

 

 

 

Head Coach John Melloís team captured RICís first-ever Little East Conference Tournament Championship with a 1-0 shutout over fourth-seeded Plymouth State on Saturday, Nov. 8. RIC is currently 12-5-4 and need one additional victory to tie the program record for wins in a season.

 

Rhode Island College and Babson (16-4-1; NEWMAC Champions) have seven common opponents on the season. Both the Anchormen and Beavers earned wins over UMass Boston, Keene State, Coast Guard and Westfield State. Babson tied Clark (0-0 2OT), while the Anchormen lost (1-0) in an extra session. The Beavers defeated Union (3-1), while RIC lost (1-0). Babson downed MIT (2-1), while RIC earned a 2-2 double-overtime draw.
