2008 Rhode Island College Women’s Volleyball
Season Summary
(8-23 Overall; 0-6 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, R.I.—Head Coach Luis Carvalho’s (Career record: 23-40, .365) team finished the 2008 season with a 8-23 overall record and an 0-6 (seventh place) mark in the Little East Conference.

 

 

 

Senior libero Jackie Gervais (Woonsocket, RI) closed out her two-year career as an Anchorwoman having played in 177 games in 54 matches. She totaled 44 services aces (.25/game) and 753 digs (4.3/game).

 

As a senior in 2008, she played in 108 games in 30 matches. She totaled 26 service aces (.24/game) and 571 digs (5.3/game). Gervais was named the team’s MVP and was selected to the Brandeis Invitational’s All-Tournament Team. She led the team in digs, which established a new program record, and service aces.

 

As a junior in 2007, Gervais played in 69 games in 24 matches. She totaled six kills (.09/game), five assists (.07/game), 18 service aces (.26/game) and 182 digs (2.6/game). Gervais was fourth on the club in digs.

 

Prior to coming to RIC, Gervais attended Bryant University and the Community College of Rhode Island.

 

She is a marketing major and a 2004 graduate of Woonsocket High School.

 

Senior right side hitter Tina Hilton (Woonsocket, RI) closed out her two-year career as an Anchorwomen having played in 162 games in 54 matches. She totaled 139 kills (.86/game), a .112 hitting percentage, 50 assists (.31/game), 148 digs (.91/game) and 46 blocks (.28/game).

 

As a senior in 2008, she played in 99 games in 31 matches. She totaled 96 kills (.97/game), a .137 hitting percentage, 25 assists (.25/game), 123 digs (1.2/game) and 29 blocks (.29/game). Hilton was third on the team in blocks and assists.

 

As a junior in 2007, Hilton played in 63 games in 23 matches. She totaled 43 kills (.68/game), a .070 hitting percentage, 25 assists (.40/game), 25 digs (.40/game) and 17 blocks (.27/game).

 

As a sophomore in 2006, she played in 84 games while at the Community College of Rhode Island totaling 167 kills (1.99/game), a .289 hitting percentage, three assists (.04/game), 96 digs (1.1/game) and 59 blocks (.70/game)

 

As a freshman in 2005, Hilton Played in 89 games while at the Community College of Rhode Island totaling 129 kills (1.5/game), a .182 hitting percentage, two assists (.02/game), 51 digs (.57/game) and 33 blocks (.37/game).

 

She is a social work major and a 2004 graduate of Woonsocket High School.

 

Junior outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) played in 112 games in 31 matches. She totaled 241 kills (2.2/game), a .146 hitting percentage, 24 service aces (.21/game), 467 digs (4.2/game) and 23 blocks (.21/game). Corriveau led the team in kills, while ranking second in both service aces and digs.

 

Junior middle blocker Kristen Johnson (East Providence, RI) played in 109 games in 31 matches. She totaled 109 kills (1.0/game) and 53 blocks (.49/game). Johnson was second on the team in blocks.

 

Sophomore setter Nicole Enos (Coventry, RI) played in 45 games in 14 matches before an injury sidelined her for the remainder of the season. She totaled 292 assists (6.5/game), 12 service aces (.27/game) and 95 digs (2.1/game). Enos was second on the club in assists.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Grant (Warwick, RI) played in eight games in five matches. She totaled two kills (.25/game) and nine digs (1.1/game).

 

Sophomore outside hitter Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI) played in 92 games in 27 matches. She totaled 197 kills (2.1/game), 19 service aces (.21/game), 209 digs (2.3/game) and 22 blocks (.24/game). Heidel was second on the team in kills.

 

Sophomore middle blocker Erin St. Jacques (Warwick, RI) played in 106 games in 29 matches. She totaled 196 kills (1.9/game), a .199 hitting percentage, 79 digs (.75/game) and 79 blocks (.75/game). St. Jacques was first on the team in blocks, while ranking third in kills.

 

Freshman middle blocker Carly Pires (Newport, RI) played in 10 games in six matches. She totaled seven kills (.70/game) and three blocks (.30/game).

 

Freshman outside hitter Jamilah Pittman (Warwick, RI) played in 52 games in 23 matches. She totaled 13 kills (.25/game), seven service aces (.13/game) and 97 digs (1.9/game).

 

Freshman setter Tiana Pittman (Warwick, RI) played in 71 games in 23 matches. She totaled 18 kills (.25/game), a .273 hitting percentage, 473 assists (6.7/game), 15 service aces (.21/game), 165 digs (2.3/game) and 21 blocks (.30/game). Pittman led the team in assists.
