2008 Rhode Island College

Menís Cross Country Season Summary

Providence, R.I.óHead Coach Kevin Jacksonís team wrapped up the 2008 season, placing 33rd (49 teams) with a score of 986 at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Williams on Nov. 15.

 

The Anchormen placed 25th (48 teams) with a score of 748 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Div. IIII Championships, held at Colt State Park on Nov. 8.

 

RIC placed 10th (12 teams) with a score of 276 at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park on Nov. 1. The Anchormen placed fifth (six) teams in the Little East with a score of 150.

 

 

 

Senior captain Hunter Stewart (Johnston, RI) placed 247th with a time of 32:04.9 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Nov. 15. He placed 198th with a time of 30:43 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Stewart placed 105th with a season-best time of 30:34.53 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 10th with a time of 31:53.11 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Stewart placed 60th with a time of 33:28.22 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 66th with a time of 31:54.42 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. Stewart placed 14th with a time of 33:44.04 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. He placed 238th with a time of 31:26 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

As a junior in 2007, he placed 273rd with a time of 31:01 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Nov. 10. He placed 161st with a season-best time of 30:16 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 3. Stewart placed 109th with a time of 30:37 at the Alliance Championships on Oct. 27. He placed 19th with a time of 31:58 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 13. Stewart placed 40th with a time of 32:37 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 6. He placed 36th with a time of 31:34 at the Tri-State Invitational on Sept. 29. Stewart placed 20th with a time of 33:38 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 22.

 

Prior to coming to RIC, Stewart spent two years at the Community College of Rhode Island.

 

He is an English major and a 2005 graduate of Ponaganset High School.

 

Junior Chris Farrell (Cumberland, RI) placed 274th with a time of 33:26.4 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Nov. 15. He placed 282nd with a time of 33:36 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Farrell placed 122nd with a season-best time of 31:33.02 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 13th with a time of 32:58.14 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Farrell placed 56th with a time of 33:15.59 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 99th with a time of 34:56.31 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. Farrell placed 18th with a time of 35:59.51 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. He placed 263rd with a time of 33:38 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

Sophomore Mike Macedo (North Scituate, RI) placed 24th with a time of 30:03.64 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He was RICís top runner, placing 14th with a time of 29:07.61 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. Macedo was RICís top runner, placing third with a time of 29:17.48 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. He was RICís top runner, placing 109th with a season-best time of 27:23 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

Freshman Andrew Augustus (Bristol, RI) placed 132nd with a time of 32:23.87 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 15th with a time of 35:09.16 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Augustus placed 49th with a time of 32:30.77 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 15th with a time of 33:45.36 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. Augustus placed 204th with a with a season-best time of 29:51 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

Freshman Pat Brassil (Wakefield, RI) placed 312th with a time of 37:39 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Brassil placed 142nd with a season-best time of 33:42.26 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 17th with a time of 40:51.0 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Brassil placed 70th with a time of 34:21.40 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 111th with a time of 36:30.81 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. Brassil placed 21st with a time of 37:17.70 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. He placed 229th with a time of 35:54 in the sub-varsity race of the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

Freshman Andy Danesi (Johnston, RI) placed 159th with a time of 29:31.4 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Nov. 15. He was RICís top runner, placing 71st with a season-best time of 28:26 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Danesi placed 60th with a time of 28:32.22 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 27th with a time of 30:20.83 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. Danesi placed 49th with a time of 30:45.48 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. He placed seventh with a time of 31:22.53 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. Danesi placed 213th with a time of 30:14 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

Freshman Ethan Leary (Newport, RI) placed 189th with a time of 30:07.8 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Nov. 15. He placed 133rd with a time of 29:27 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Leary placed 71st with a season-best time of 28:54.51 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 6th with a time of 30:21.7 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Leary placed 31st with a time of 30:33.97 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 57th with a time of 31:05.05 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. Leary placed eighth with a time of 31:28.41 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. He placed 189th with a time of 29:23 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

Freshman Kyle Mann (West Warwick, RI) was named the teamís MVP. Mann was RICís top runner, placing 137th with a time of 29:04.6 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Nov. 15. He placed 84th with a time of 28:36 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 8. Mann was RICís top runner, placing 43rd with a season-best time of 27:53.48 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He was RICís top runner, placing 1st with a time of 29:29.2 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Mann was RICís top runner, placing 12th with a time of 29:11.70 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 11. He placed 25th with a time of 29:45.40 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 4. Mann placed fifth with a time of 30:10.05 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. He placed 173rd with a time of 28:54 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.

 

Freshman Chris Usler (Warwick, RI) placed 301st with a time of 35:01.3 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Nov. 15. Usler placed 149th with a time of 35:44.30 at the Alliance Championships on Nov. 1. He placed 16th with a time of 36:46.17 at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 17. Usler placed 22nd with a time of 37:21.89 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 29. He placed 223rd with a season-best time of 34:48 in the sub-varsity race of the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.
