REBELLO PICKS UP LONE SINGLES WIN AS RIC FALLS, 7-2, AT CLARK

Worcester, MA-Clark Universityís menís tennis team earned its first victory of the season with a 7-2 win over Rhode Island College at Corash Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.

 

 

 Sophomore No. 2 Singles Nate Rebello

 

 Clark (1-1) nearly swept doubles play, as seniors Adam Bisceglia (North Granby, CT) and Rocco Li (Hong Kong, China) bested RIC senior Rolando Yotharath (Woonsocket, RI) and junior Garrett Smith (Exeter, RI), 8-3, in the number one spot, followed by senior Ben Grossís (Newton, MA) and sophomore Aaron Chinís (Hong Kong, China) triumph over sophomores Nathan Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) and Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI), 8-4, in second doubles.

 

However, freshman Mike Ricci (Cranston, RI) and sophomore Matt Allard (Harrisville, RI) prevented the sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3.

 

Sophomore Rob Schmidt (Douglastown, NY) picked up his first collegiate victory at sixth singles (6-3, 6-3), while second-year player Nathan Maltais (Seabrook, NH) secured his first win of the season at five (6-2, 6-0).

 

Rebello was RICís (0-2) lone winner in singles play with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 2.
