VOYER
SCORES FOUR AS RIC WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS TO KEENE STATE

Keene, NH—Freshman
midfielder Molly Voyer (Lincoln, RI) scored four goals, while
sophomore attacker Suany Almonte (Warwick, RI) contributed a
goal and three assists, as the Rhode Island College women’s lacrosse
team lost, 16-7, at Keene State on Saturday afternoon. |

Keene State improves to 4-6 overall
and evens its Little East Conference mark at 1-1. Rhode Island
College falls to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in league action. |

The Owls scored early and often,
netting seven goals in the first six minutes of the game. Junior
Dene Tully (Peabody, MA) scored two goals and sophomore
Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, ME) had a goal and three assists in
the early uprising. |

|
After Voyer scored goals 20 seconds
apart to make it 10-3, KSC freshman Brittany Bastarache (Somers,
CT) scored her first goal of the season with one second on the
clock to give the Owls an 11-3 halftime lead. |
|
|
|
|
|
The two teams traded goals throughout
the second half. Sawyer finished the game with two goals and four
assists for Keene State. Jamie Albert (Southington, CT),
Sarah Munger (East Lyme, CT) and Bastarache each had two goals
for the Owls. |

KSC senior goalie Jen Gearing
(Westfield, MA) finished the game with 10 saves. Hilary
Switzer (Woonsocket, RI), RIC’s sophomore goalie, stopped nine
shots. |

In upcoming action, Rhode Island
College will host Salve Regina on Monday, Apr. 6. |
