STORM BACK TO HAND
ANCHORWOMEN, 12-7, LOSS
|

Providence, RI—Framingham
State came back from a 7-5 deficit with 21 minutes left in the
second half, scoring seven straight goals, to down Rhode Island
College, 12-7, in collegiate women’s lacrosse action on Saturday
afternoon. |

Freshman midfielder Kerry Kiley
(Mansfield, MA) and junior attacker Jessica Wood (Framingham,
MA) each scored twice during the second half surge. |
|
|
|
|
|
RIC (1-12) registered the game’s
first three goals as freshman attacker Molly Voyer (Lincoln, RI)
scored twice, while sophomore midfielder Suany Almonte (Warwick,
RI) also tallied, over the first 5:07. Wood stemmed the tide at
7:42, and despite a RIC junior midfielder Emily Conte (North
Providence, RI) marker at 8:53, the Rams (5-6) found the back of
the net four straight times, paced by two Kiley goals, to take a 5-4
lead at halftime. |

The Anchorwomen stormed back out of
the break with three straight goals-two from freshman midfielder
Jenna Childs (Cranston, RI) and another by senior defender
Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI)-to hold a 7-5 advantage at 36:38.

|
Framingham began the comeback with a
junior attacker Ashley Noonan (Mansfield, MA) goal at 39:09.
Wood netted the equalizer at 44:06 and Kiley scored what proved to
be the game-winner at 45:31. |

|
|
|
|
Kiley finished with a game-high four
goals, while Wood was one off the pace. Senior defender Sam
Laferriere (Billerica, MA) had six ground balls, three draw
controls and two caused turnovers. |

|
|
Heard led RIC with five ground balls,
three draw controls and four caused turnovers. |

|

|
|
FSC freshman goalkeeper Allesha
Kenyon (Westford, MA) made six saves, while RIC sophomore
Hilary Switzer (Woonsocket, RI) made 14 stops. |

|
|
|
|
The Rams outshot RIC, 35-18, and held
a slight advantage in ground balls, 25-21. The Anchorwomen led in
draw controls, 12-9. |

|

|
|
In upcoming action, Rhode Island
College will resume Little East Conference action at Southern Maine
on Tuesday, Apr. 21. |
