THREE TAKE HOME TITLES AS RIC WOMEN’S TRACK WINS SILFEN INVITATIONAL

New London, CT-The Rhode Island College women’s outdoor track and field team captured the Silfen Invitational, finishing first amongst a 13-team field with 133.50 points. They outdistanced second place Worcester State by 2.50 points.

 

 

 Senior Kayla Fleming

 

Senior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) finished first in the high jump (1.60m), placed fourth in the long jump (4.96m) and was fifth in the 800 meters (2:27.39).

 

 

Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi

 

Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed first in the 400 meter hurdles (1:08.15) and was second in the 100 meter hurdles (16.40).

 

 

 Senior Mary Ellen Horsman

 

Senior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed first in the hammer (45.10m).

 

Junior Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed second in the hammer (40.04m), fourth in the discus (32.44m) and fifth in the shot (10.08m).

 

Freshman Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) finished second in both the long (5.17m) and triple jumps (10.70m), while placing third in the high jump (1.40m).

 

Junior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed second in the 400 meters (1:00.83), third in the triple jump (10.54m) and fifth in the 200 meters (28.20)

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday, Apr. 25.
