RIC’S
SEASON ENDS WITH, 19-5, LOSS
TO EASTERN CONNECTICUT

RI—Eastern
Connecticut junior midfielder Taylor MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, MA)
had four goals and three assists as the Warriors closed out
Rhode Island College’s season with a 19-5 win in Little East
Conference women’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. |

|
The Warriors
even their record at 8-8 and cap their Little East Conference
Regular Season Championship with a perfect 6-0 mark. The Anchorwomen
finish with a 1-14 overall record and an 0-6 mark in league action. |

|

The Warriors
opened the game with five goals from five different players over the
first 12:25 of action. RIC freshman attacker Nicky Drolet
(Somersworth, NH) stemmed the tide with an unassisted marker at
14:13. |

|
|
|
Eastern
Connecticut answered with two goals before RIC sophomore midfielder
Suany Almonte (Warwick, RI) cut the deficit to five goals,
7-2, at 21:07. MacDonald scored two of her three first half tallies
over the final 8:39 as the visitors went into halftime with a 10-3
advantage. |

|
ECSU scored
six goals, paced by two sophomore midfielder Ashley Del Vecchio
(Fairfield, CT) markers, over the first 8:42 of the second half
to put the game away. |
|
|
|
|
|
The Warriors
had a balanced offensive attack with nine different goal scorers and
10 seaprate players recording at least one point. Del Vecchio
matched MacDonald’s goal total, while junior attacker Brooke
Wayte (Bellport, NY) contributed three markers. |
|
|
|
|
|
Freshman
goalie Kristianna Ibsen (Shelton, CT) made eight saves to
earn the win. MacDonald added seven draw controls, while senior
defender Sara Barrett (Bourne, MA) picked up a game-high six
ground balls and caused three turnovers. |
|
|
|
|
|
Drolet and
Almonte accounted for each of RIC’s five goals, with three and two,
respectively. Freshman attacker Molly Voyer (Lincoln, RI) and
classmate defender Jenna Childs (Cranston, RI) led the
Anchorwomen with four ground balls apiece. Childs added a game-high
four caused turnovers. |

Sophomore
goalie Hilary Switzer (Woonsocket, RI) made 18 saves in a
losing effort. |
|
|
|
|
|
The Warriors
outshot RIC, 42-21, and held in advantage in ground balls, 24-18,
and draw controls, 20-5. |
