THREE CAPTURE INDIVIDUAL N.E. ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS AS RIC WOMENíS
TRACK PLACES THIRD

Westfield, MA-The Rhode Island College womenís outdoor track and field team took part in the New England Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday afternoon.

 

Rhode Island College finished third overall (111.5). Westfield State won the meet (162.5) and Southern Maine was second (136.0). RIC captured individual titles in four events and the 4x400m relay.

 

 

 Kayla Fleming

 

Senior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) was the New England Alliance Champion in the high jump (1.70m-new program record), the 800m (2:22.21) and as part of the 4x400m relay (4:12.03). She also earned New England Alliance honors in the long jump, placing sixth (4.82m).

 

 

 Senior Mary Ellen Horsman

 

Senior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) was the New England Alliance Champion in the hammer (44.74m).

 

 

 Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi

 

Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) was the New England Alliance Champion in the 400m hurdles (67.42) and as part of the 4x400m relay (4:12.03). She also earned New England Alliance honors in two additional events, placing third in both the 100m hurdles (16.24) and as part of the 4x100m relay (51.93).

 

 

 Freshman Kim Mangum

 

Freshman Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) was the New England Alliance Champion as part of the 4x400m relay (4:12.03). She also earned New England Alliance honors in three additional events, placing second in the triple jump (10.92m), third as part of the 4x100m relay (51.93) and fourth in the long jump (4.86m).

 

 

 Junior Brooke Iby

 

Junior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) was the New England Alliance Champion as part of the 4x400m relay (4:12.03). She also earned New England Alliance honors in three additional events, placing third in both the triple jump (10.88m) and as part of the 4x100m relay (51.93), and fourth in the 400m (62.28).

 

 

 Junior Stephanie Bucci

 

Junior Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) earned New England Alliance honors in the hammer and discus, placing third (42.07m) and fourth (32.46m), respectively.

 

 

 Sophomore Jamie Nunes

 

Sophomore Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) earned New England Alliance honors in the 100m hurdles, placing fifth (16.89).

 

 

 Freshman Alexzandra Hays

 

Freshman Alexzandra Hays (Chepachet, RI) earned New England Alliance honors in the shot, placing sixth (10.37m).

 

 

 Freshman Nicole Gelinas

 

Freshman Nicole Gelinas (Dayville, CT) earned New England Alliance honors as part of the 4x100m relay, which placed third (51.93).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
