LOPARDO WINS N.E. ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIP
AS RIC MENíS TRACK PLACES NINTH

Westfield, MA-The Rhode Island College menís outdoor track and field team took part in the New England Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday afternoon.

 

Rhode Island College finished ninth overall (26.0). Southern Maine won the meet (184.0). RIC captured individual titles in four events and the 4x400m relay.

 

 

 Senior Dante Lopardo

 

Senior Dante Lopardo (Johnston, RI) was the New England Alliance Champion, establishing a new program record in the high jump (2.02m). He also earned New England Alliance honors in the long jump (6.41m) with a fifth place finish.

 

 

 Freshman Kyle Mann

 

Freshman Kyle Mann (West Warwick, RI) earned New England Alliance honors in the 3,000m steeplechase, placing third (9:58.27).

 

 

 Sophomore Mike Macedo

 

Sophomore Mike Macedo (North Scituate, RI) earned New England Alliance honors in the 10,000m, placing fourth (34:21.72).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
