HORSMAN, FLEMING & MANGUM EARN
ALL-NEW ENGLAND HONORS

Providence, RI-Senior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI), senior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) and freshman Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) earned All-New England honors as Rhode Island College competed at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield, on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen totaled 7.0 points, placing 19th (26 teams) overall.

 

 

 Senior Kayla Fleming

 

 Fleming earned All-New England honors in the high jump with a fifth place finish (1.58m). She has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

 

 

 Senior Mary Ellen Horsman

 

 Horsman earned All-New England honors in the hammer with a sixth place finish (44.25m).

 

 

 Freshman Kim Mangum

 

 Mangum earned All-New England honors in the long jump, placing eighth (5.19m). She also placed 14th in the triple jump (11.10m).

 

Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed 10th (16.41) in the 100m hurdles and 19th (1:10.42) in the 400m hurdles.

 

Sophomore Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed 13th in the 100m hurdles (16.77).

 

 Junior Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed 16th in the discus (32.68m).

 

 Junior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed 21st in both the 400m (1:02.11) and the triple jump (9.91m).

 

 The 4x100m relay squad of Mangum, Iby, DiBlasi and freshman Nicole Gelinas (Dayville, CT) placed 13th (52.84). The 4x400m relay squad comprised of Fleming, Iby, Mangum and DiBlasi placed 12th (4:17.83).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Open Championships, hosted by UMass Amherst on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9.
