BERARD, PANARELLI & PERRY NAMED TO
NCAA SOFTBALL NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Providence, RIóRhode Island College sophomores Amanda Berard (Swansea, MA), Chelsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury, MA) and Amanda Perry (New Bedford, MA) were named to the NCAA Div. III Softball New England Regional All-Tournament Team for their performances in four games.

 

 

Amanda Berard

 

Berard was named to the All-Tournament Team as a pitcher. She allowed just two earned runs in 22 innings of work for a miniscule 0.64 ERA. Berard tossed a no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Emerson on May 9, coming just a passed ball away from a perfect game. She struck out 27 batters and posted a 2-0 record in tournament play.

 

 

Chelsi Panarelli

 

Panarelli was named to the All-Tournament Team as a first baseman. She batted .462 with three homers, establishing a new program record with eight in a season. Panarelli knocked in three, totaled 16 bases and posted a 1.231 slugging percentage in four games. Her .462 on-base percentage was tops on the second seeded Anchorwomen.

 

 

Amanda Perry

 

Perry was named to the All-Tournament Team as an At-Large selection. The second baseman blasted two homers and drove in a team-high six runs. She totaled 12 bases for a .857 slugging percentage in four games.

 

The Anchorwomen ended their run for a third consecutive NCAA New England Regional title in a 3-1 loss to seventh-seeded Springfield on May 9. RIC earned wins over Bridgewater State (7-2) and Emerson (1-0), while losing to Springfield twice (5-2, 3-1). RIC's 42-7 overall record established a new program record for victories in a season.
