THREE EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST HONORS

Providence, RI--The Little East Conference honored three members of the Rhode Island College women's outdoor track and field team for their respective performances at the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by UMass Amherst on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen tied for 29th place (36 teams) with 3.0 points on the day.

 

 

Kim Mangum

 

Freshman Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) was named the Little East Conference Women's Rookie Field Athlete of the Week. She broke her own Rhode Island College record in the triple jump, earning All-NEICAAA honors with an eighth place, 11.20m effort. Mangum also teamed with senior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI), junior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) and sophomore Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) to establish a new school record in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:05.22 (12th place).

Fleming was named the Little East Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week. In addition to the record-setting performance as part of the 4x400m relay, she earned All-NEICAAA honors by placing seventh (1.59m) in the high jump.

 

 

Kayla DiBlasi

 

 DiBlasi  was named the Little East Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week. In addition to the record-setting performance as part of the 4x400m relay, she placed 16th (16.59) in the 100m hurdles and 21st (1:07.77) in the 400m hurdles.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the ECAC New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield on Thursday and Friday, May 14-15.
