CARDOSO & FAMA NAMED
SECOND TEAM ALL-LITTLE EAST

Providence, RI-The Little East Conference named seniors Josh Cardoso (Dartmouth, MA) and Eric Fama (Wappingers Falls, NY) to its 2009 All-Conference Baseball Team.

 

 

 Senior Shortstop Josh Cardoso

 

Cardoso was named Second Team All-Little East as a shortstop. He played in 35 games, starting all of them. Cardoso batted .346 (47-for-136) with 34 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 29 RBI and six stolen bases. He owned a .551 slugging percentage, a .409 on-base percentage and a .936 fielding percentage. Cardoso was a Second Team All-LEC selection as a sophomore in 2006.

 

 

 Senior Closer Eric Fama

 

Fama was named Second Team All-Little East as a relief pitcher. He appeared in 20 games, going 0-1 with 12 saves, a 4.58 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 17.2 innings pitched. Fama is RIC’s all-time leader in relief appearances and saves. He was a First Team All-LEC selection in 2008 and a Second Team honoree in 2006.

 

RIC finished the season with a 24-15 overall record and a 6-8 (fifth place) mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen’s 24 wins tied the 2008 and 1979’s squads’ program record for the most victories in a single season.
