LEVESQUE NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-NEW ENGLAND

Providence, RI-The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) named Rhode Island College sophomore Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI) Second Team All-New England for his performance this season.

 

 

 

Levesque, who also named RIC’s team MVP, earned the honor as a utility player. He played first base, designated hitter and was a pitcher for the Anchormen this spring. Levesque played in 30 games, starting all of them. He batted .465 (59-for-127) with 44 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, 36 RBI and two stolen bases. He owned a .882 slugging percentage, a .514 on-base percentage and a .962 fielding percentage. As a pitcher, he appeared in 11 games, starting nine of them. Levesque was 3-4 with a 5.46 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 56.0 innings pitched.

 

RIC finished the season with a 24-15 overall record and a 6-8 (fifth place) mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen’s 24 wins tied the 2008 and 1979’s squads’ program record for the most victories in a single season.
