PANARELLI, BERARD & PERRY
NAMED ALL-ECAC

Providence, RI-The Eastern College Athletic Conference named Rhode Island College sophomores Chelsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury, MA), Amanda Berard (Swansea, MA) and Amanda Perry (New Bedford, MA) New England Div. III Softball All-Stars for their performances in 2009.

 

 

 Chelsi Panarelli

 

Panarelli was named a ECAC First Team All-Star as a first baseman. In 2009, she was named First Team All-Little East Conference. She played in 42 games, starting 40 of them. Panarelli batted .325 (38-for-117) with 28 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple, a program-record eight home runs, 27 RBI and one stolen base. She owned a .624 slugging percentage, a .352 on-base percentage and a .993 fielding percentage. Panarelli was named to the NCAA Div. III Softball New England Regionalís All-Tournament Team as a first baseman.

 

 

 Amanda Berard

 

Berard was named a ECAC Second Team All-Star as a pitcher. In 2009, she was named Second Team All-New England, the Little East Conference Pitcher of the Year and garnered First Team All-Little East honors. Berard appeared in 37 games, starting six of them. She was 16-2 and led the nation with 12 saves. Berard owned a 0.53 earned run average with 130 strikeouts in 146.0 innings pitched. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 Little East Conference Softball Championship Tournament. Berard was named to the NCAA Div. III Softball New England Regionalís All-Tournament Team as a pitcher.

 

 

 Amanda Perry

 

Perry was named a ECAC Second Team All-Star as a second baseman. In 2009, she was named First Team All-New England and was also named First Team All-Little East Conference for the second consecutive season. She played in 49 games, starting all of them. Perry batted .380 (63-for-166) with 43 runs scored, 11 doubles, six triples, seven home runs, a program-record 39 RBI and six stolen bases. She owned a .645 slugging percentage, a .441 on-base percentage and a .960 fielding percentage. Perry was named to the NCAA Div. III Softball New England Regionalís All-Tournament Team as an At-Large selection.

 

Head Coach Maria Morinís team finished the season with a 42-7 overall record and a program-record 13-1 mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen captured their fifth straight Little East Regular Season Championship, fourth consecutive LEC Tournament title and made their fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
