Menís Outdoor Track & Field Season Summary

Providence, RIóHead Coach Kevin Jacksonís team closed out the 2009 season at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) N.E. Div. III Championships on Thursday and Friday, May 15-16. The Anchormen tied for 55th place (56 teams) with a team score of 1.5 points.

 

 

 

RIC tied for 39th place (41 teams) with a score of 1.0 at the N.E. Open Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9.

 

The Anchormen placed 19th (26 teams) with a score of 10.0 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.

 

The Anchormen placed ninth overall (12 teams) with 26.0 points and fifth (six teams) in the Little East Conference with 37.0 points at the N.E. Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on April 25.

 

Senior Dante Lopardo (Johnston, RI) was named the teamís MVP. He earned All-ECAC honors in the high jump, tying for sixth overall (1.95m) at the ECAC Championships on May 15. Lopardo earned All-NEICAAA honors with an eighth place finish in the high jump (1.95m) at the N.E. Open Championships on May 9. He earned All-New England honors in the high jump, placing first in the high jump (1.95m) and placed 12th in the long jump (6.51m) with a season-best effort at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 2. Lopardo was the N.E. Alliance Champion in the high jump with a season-best effort (2.02m), while also earning N.E. Alliance honors in the long jump (6.41m) with a fifth place finish at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 25. He also placed 15th in the triple jump (12.07m), 27th in the discus (26.43m) with a season-best throw and 26th in the javelin (37.82m). He placed first in the high jump (1.93m), eighth in the triple jump with a season-best performance (12.54m), ninth in the long jump (6.10m), 11th in the javelin with a season-best throw (43.25m) and 24th in the discus with a season-best throw (21.73m) at the Silfen Invitational on April 18. Lopardo first in the high jump (1.90m) and second in the long jump (5.84m) and at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. He placed first in the high jump (1.91m) and fourth in the long jump (6.10m) at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. Lopardo placed second in the high jump (1.87m), eighth in the long jump (5.86m) and 17th in the 200m (24.66) with a season-best time at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

As a junior in 2008, Lopardo was named the teamís MVP. He placed 11th in the high jump (1.84m) at the ECAC Championships on May 16. Lopardo placed fifth in the high jump (1.95m) meters at the N.E. Open Championships on May 10. He earned All-New England honors in the high jump (1.90m) with a third place finish, while also placing 15th in the long jump (5.81m) at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 1-3. Lopardo was the New England Alliance Champion in the high jump (1.98m) with a season-best effort, while also earning New England Alliance honors in both the long (season-best performance) and triple jumps (6.27m/12.71m) with fourth place efforts, at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Apr. 26. He placed first in the high jump (1.96m), third in the triple jump (13.12m) with a season-best effort and seventh in the long jump (6.24m) meters at the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 19. Lopardo placed first in the high jump (1.95m) meters, eighth in the triple jump (12.73m) and 12th in the javelin (34.68m) at the Swanson Invitational on Apr. 12. He placed fourth in the high jump (1.86m) and seventh in the long jump (6.28m) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Apr. 5. Lopardo placed first in the triple jump (10.72m), second in the high jump (1.83m) and sixth in the javelin (43.47m), a season-best, at the RIC Invitational on Mar. 29. He placed fifth in the triple jump (11.83m) and sixth in the long jump (5.90m) at the Husky Spring Open on Mar. 22.

 

He competed for the Community College of Rhode Island from 2004-06.

 

Lopardo is a history major and a 2003 graduate of Johnston High School.

 

Senior Hunter Stewart (Foster, RI) placed 16th in the 800m with a time of 2:04.37 at the Alliance Championships on April 25. He placed second in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:58.63 at the Silfen Invitational on April 18.  Stewart placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:00.83 at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. He placed eighth in the 400m (51.89) and 14th in the 200m (24.19), both season-best performances, at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. Stewart placed 33rd in the 1,500m (4:30.30) with a season-best time at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

As a junior in 2008, Stewart placed 22nd in the 400m with a time of 51.82 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 1-3. He placed ninth in the 400m with a time of 51.79 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on Apr. 26. Stewart placed fifth in the 400m with a season-best time of 51.02 at the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 19. He placed second in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:59.62 at the Swanson Invitational on Apr. 12. Stewart placed first in the 400m with a time of 51.88 at the RIC Invitational on Mar. 29. He placed sixth in the 400m (52.19) and ninth in the 200m (24.28) at the Husky Spring Open on Mar. 22.

 

He competed at the Community College of Rhode Island from 2005-07.

 

Stewart is an English major and a 2005 graduate of Ponaganset High School.

 

Junior Kyle Duguay (Cumberland, RI) placed 18th in the 200m with a season-best time of 23.25 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 25. Duguay placed third in the 100m (11.61) and seventh in 200m (23.84) at the Silfen Invitational on April 18. He placed first in the 100m (11.57) and second in the 200m (23.83) at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. Duguay placed sixth in the 200m with a time of 23.67 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. He placed 26th in the 400m with a season-best time of 55.54 at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

Junior Chris Farrell (Cumberland, RI) placed 57th in the 1,500m with a season-best time of 4:56.29 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. He placed 41st in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:35.47 at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

Junior Kwame Gyampo (Providence, RI) placed 37th in the 200m with a season-best time of 24.40 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 25. He placed ninth in the 100m with a season-best time of 11.87 and 12th in the 200m with a time of 24.64 at the Silfen Invitational on April 18. Gyampo placed third in the 100m with a season-best time of 11.87 and sixth in the 200m with a time of 24.90 at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. He placed 17th in the 200m with a time of 24.38 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. Gyampo placed 17th in the preliminaries of the 100m with a time of 13.44 and 20th in the 200m with a time of 25.00 at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

Sophomore Mike Macedo (North Scituate, RI) placed 21st in the 10,000m with a time of 34.30.26 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 2. He earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 10,000m, placing fourth with a time of 34:21.72 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 25. Macedo placed third in the 10,000m with a season-best time of 33:37.70 at the Silfen Invitational on April 18.  He placed seventh in the 3,000m with a new program record time of 9:41.51 at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. Macedo placed 13th in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 16:40.85 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. He placed fifth in the 10,000m with a time of 33:59.05 at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

Sophomore Anthony Moore (Providence, RI) placed 32nd in the 100m with a season-best time of 12.50 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4.

 

Sophomore Shane Spinner (Providence, RI) placed fourth in the shot (6.36m) at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. He placed 20th in the shot with a season-best throw of 6.41 meters at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4.

 

Freshman Chris DaLuz (Pawtucket, RI) placed 26th in the 100m with a time of 13.99 and 29th in the 200m with a time of 29.43 at the Silfen Invitational on April 18. He placed 15th in the 200m with a season-best time of 28.91 and 17th in the 100m with a season-best time of 13.78 at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. DaLuz placed 44th in the 200m with a time of 29.34 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4.

 

Freshman Ethan Leary (Newport, RI) placed 18th in the 1,500m with a time of 4:34.06 at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 25. He placed 18th the 1,500m with a season-best time of 4:33.36 at the Silfen Invitational on April 18. Leary placed eighth in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:15.73 at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. He placed 39th in the 1,500m with a time of 4:34.06 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. Leary placed 37th in the 1,500m with a time of 4:40.46 at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.

 

Freshman Kyle Mann (West Warwick, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors, placing third, in the 3,000m steeplechase with a season-best time of 9:58.27, while also placing eighth in the 5,000m with a time of 16:49.52, at the N.E. Alliance Championships on April 25. He placed third in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:47.33 at the Silfen Invitational on April 18. Mann placed second in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:23.52 at the Wesleyan Invitational on April 11. He placed seventh in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 16:16.66 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4. Mann placed eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:52.79 at the Trinity Invitational on March 28.
