KAYLA FLEMING & TWO OTHERS EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST HONORS

 

Providence, RI-Rhode Island College senior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI), along with freshmen Jacqueline Towle (Swanzey, NH) and Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI), received weekly Little East Conference honors for their performance at the Springfield Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6.

 

Fleming was named the Little East Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. She broke her own school-record with a first place, 1.71-meter effort in the high jump, which qualified her for the NCAA Div. III Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships for the second consecutive season. Fleming also placed third in the 800 meters (2:31.68) and as part of the distance medley relay team (14:04.51).

Towle was named the Little East Conference Women’s Rookie Track Athlete of the Week. She placed second in the 600 meters with a school-record time of 1:43.27 and third as part of the distance medley relay team (14:04.51).

 

 

 Freshman Jacqueline Towle

 

Mangum was named the Little East Conference Women’s Rookie Field Athlete of the Week. She placed second in the triple jump (10.63m) and fourth in the long jump (4.86m). Mangum was also part of the 4x400 meter relay, which placed second with a time of 4:28.64 and in the 4x200 meter relay, which placed third with a time of 1:56.13.

In upcoming action, Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team will compete at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 13.
