WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS DROPS TWO AT SPRINGFIELD MEET

 

Springfield, MA—The Rhode Island College women’s gymnastics team dropped two matches at Springfield College on Saturday afternoon to see their record fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 vs. Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III opponents.

 

 

 

RIC fell to Div. II Southern Connecticut, 171.850-188.400, while losing their first conference match, 171.850-180.675, to the hosts.

 

 

 

The Anchorwomen posted scores of 43.825 on vault, 39.750 on bars, 43.775 on beam and 44.500 on floor.

 

 

 

 

 

 Freshman Courtney Winsor

 

 

 

Freshman Courtney Winsor (West Greenwich, RI) led the Anchorwomen on vault, and placed eighth overall, with a score of 9.125. Freshman Angela Gargano (Stanhope, NJ) was 12th overall with a score of 9.025.

 

 

 

Winsor and senior captain Nicole Tomaselli (Cranston, RI) tied for 10th on bars with identical marks of 8.250.

 

 

Freshman Jessica Greenwald (Union, NJ) tied for fifth overall on beam with a score of 9.075. Sophomore Julie Pitkin (Lee, NH) was eighth at 8.900.

 

Freshmen Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) and Kate Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH) finished 13th and 14th, respectively, with scores of 9.150 and 9.050 on floor.

Pitkin was the club’s lone all-arounder, placing third with a combined score of 34.450.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host MIT on Saturday, Jan. 31.
