MANGUM, FLEMING & DiBLASI SHINE FOR RIC AT URI INVITATIONAL

Kingston, RI-The Rhode Island College women’s indoor track and field team took part in the URI Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31. It was an individual meet with no team scoring. In addition to the Rams, Providence College, Bryant and Central Connecticut also competed. The Anchorwomen were the lone Div. III representative.

 

 

 Freshman Kim Mangum

 

Freshman Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) continued her stellar performance as she placed third in the long jump (4.95m), third in the triple jump (10.98m), 14th in the 200 meters (29.10) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:23.02). Her distance in the triple jump is a new program record, surpassing the previous mark she established last week.

 

 

 Senior Kayla Fleming

 

Senior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) tied for second in the high jump (1.61m), was fourth in the 1,000 meters (3:10.70), sixth in the long jump (4.91m) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:23.02).

 

 

 Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi

 

Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed fifth in both the preliminaries and the finals of the 55 meter hurdles (9.33, 9.52). She also placed 13th in the 200 meters (28.80).

 

Junior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed fifth in the 400 meters (1:04.43), seventh in the triple jump (10.25m) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:23.02). She also logged a ninth place finish in the preliminaries of the 55 meters (8.00).

 

Junior Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed sixth in the shot (10.31m) and eighth in the weight throw (12.15m), while freshman Alexzandra Hays (Chepachet, RI) was eighth (10.18m).

 

Freshman Jessica Lane (Clinton, CT) placed 10th in the long jump (4.45m), eighth in the triple jump (9.61m) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:23.02).

 

Sophomore Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed seventh in the preliminaries of the 55 meter hurdles (9.53).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 7.
