FLEMING PACES WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK AT CARDINAL INVITATIONAL

 

Middletown, CT—Senior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) placed first in the high jump as Rhode Island College competed at the Wesleyan Cardinal Invitational on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

Fleming took the top spot with a 1.58-meter effort, while also placing second in the 600 meters (1:42.16) and fifth in the long jump (4.69m).

 

 

Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed second in the preliminaries and third in the finals of the 55 meter hurdles with times of 8.80 (new school record) and 9.49, respectively. She also placed seventh in the 400 meters (1:03.91).

Senior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 12.74 meters.

Junior Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed fourth in the shot (10.26m) and fifth in the weight throw (11.92m).

 

Junior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed 10th in the preliminary round of the 55 meters (7.94), sixth in the 600 meters (1:54.50) and third in the triple jump (10.22m).

 

Sophomore Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (12:00.69).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, at Southern Maine on Saturday, Feb. 14.
