FLEMING & MANGUM TAKE HOME TITLES AT NEW ENGLAND ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

Gorham, MEóSenior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) captured the New England Alliance Championship in the high jump and the 600 meters, while freshman Kim Mangum (Providence, RI) won the long jump title, as the Rhode Island College womenís indoor track and field team competed at the Little East Conference/MASCAC N.E. Alliance Championship, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.

 

 

 

RIC placed third (11 teams) in the Alliance with a score of 109.0, while placing second (six teams) in the Little East with a score of 133.0

 

 

 

 

 

 Senior Kayla Fleming

 

 

 

Fleming earned New England Alliance honors in five events. She placed first in both the high jump (1.60m) and in the 600 meters (1:41.79), second in the 1,000 meters (3:09.01), sixth in the long jump (4.92m) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:25.69).

 

 

 

 

 

Freshman Kim Mangum

 

 

Magnum earned New England Alliance honors in four events. She placed first in the long jump (5.11m), second in the triple jump (10.95m), third as part of the 4x200 meter relay (1:53.15) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:25.69). Mangum also placed 10th in the high jump (1.40m).

 

 

 

 

 Junior Brooke Iby

 

 

Junior Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) earned New England Alliance honors in four events. She placed fourth in the triple jump (10.65m) and the 400 meters (1:03.19), third as part of the 4x200 meter relay (1:53.15) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:25.69).

 

 

 

 

 Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi

 

 

Sophomore Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) earned New England Alliance honors in four events. She placed third in the 55 meter hurdles (9.29), fifth in the 400 meters (1:03.70), third as part of the 4x200 meter relay (1:53.15) and third as part of the 4x400 meter relay (4:25.69).

 

 

 

 

Junior Stephanie Bucci

 

 

Junior Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) earned New England Alliance honors in two events. She placed third in the weight throw (13.20m) and fourth in the shot (10.72m)

 

 

 

 

 Senior Mary Ellen Horsman

 

 

Senior Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) earned New England Alliance honors with a second place finish in the weight throw (13.44m).

 

 

 

 

 Sophomore Jamie Nunes

 

 

Sophomore Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) earned New England Alliance honors with a fourth place finish in the 55 meter hurdles (9.31).

 

 

 

 

 Freshman Jessica Lane

 

 

Freshman Jessica Lane (Clinton, CT) earned New England Alliance honors with third place finish as part of the 4x200 meter relay (1:53.15).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by MIT on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21.
