Rhode Island Collegeís Tencher
Named Chair of NCAAís Playing
Rules Oversight Committee

Providence, RI- Rhode Island College Director of Athletics Don Tencher was recently elected as Chair of the National Collegiate Athletic Associationís (NCAA) Playing Rules Oversight Panel (PROP).

 

PROP is comprised of 12 members, including six from Division I, three from Division II and three from Division III. The main purpose of PROP is oversight of the Playing Rules Committees, which includes approving changes made by each of the 15 committees annually, oversight of rules modifications for the sports which the NCAA does not write playing rules, provide direction to the NCAA staff on playing rules issues, and provide occasional counsel to Playing Rules Committees when dealing with difficult rules issues.

 

In addition to his duties as Chair, Tencher is the committee liaison to the Menís and Womenís Basketball Rules Committee. Additionally, Rhode Island native and America East Conference Commissioner Patrick Nero is also a member of PROP.
