LESIEUR HEADS TO NCGA CHAMPIONSHIPS AS RIC PLACES
SEVENTH AT ECAC MEET

Collegeville, PA-Freshman Casey Lesieur (Coventry, RI) will compete at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships in St. Paul, MN on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 20-21 as an all-around specialist from the East Region.

Lesieur placed sixth in the all-around at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Ursinus, this afternoon. She totaled scores of 9.350 (23rd tie) on vault, 9.075 (14th tie) on bars, 9.400 (11th tie ) on beam, 9.175 (24th) on floor for a total of 37.000. Lesieurís marks on vault, bars and in the all-around are new career-highs for the rookie. She is the first RIC gymnast since 2006 to qualify for the championships.

 

The Anchorwomen placed seventh (eight teams) with a score of 177.675. Brockport State won the meet with a score of 189.150. RICís point total was its highest since the 2005-06 team posted a score of 178.925 at the ECACs.

 

 

 Sophomore Julie Pitkin

 

Sophomore Julie Pitkin (Lee, NH) tied for 23rd overall on vault, equaling Lesieurís team-high effort, and tied for 21st overall on floor (9.200) with a team-best performance.

 

 

 Junior Liz Glunt

 

Junior Liz Glunt (Altoona, PA) was second on the team with a 34th place finish (8.325) on bars, tied for 20th (9.250) on beam and was ninth (35.650) in the all-around.
