THIRTEEN FROM RIC TO BE HONORED
AT N.E. BASKETBALL
HALL OF FAME CEREMONY

 

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College will have 13 honorees at the 2009 New England Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Special Brunch, held at Mohegan Sun on Friday, Oct. 9.

 

RIC Athletic Hall of Famers Jo-Ann D’Alessandro ’88, Cathy Lanni ’88, Claudia DeFaria ’96, and Mike Van Leesten ’65 will be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. Former RIC women's player Jerilynn Johnson along with DeFaria, are being enshrined for their careers at CCRI.

 

In addition, RIC Athletic Hall of Famer and current Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development G. Gail Davis ’60 will receive the Ronald S. Perry Award for coaching. Former player Dr. Wayne Montague ’82 will be inducted into the Scholar Athlete category. Current Rhode Island College Associate Director of Records Dennis McGovern will be enshrined in the N.E. Basketball Hall of Fame (Div. I) for his career at the University of Rhode Island.

 

RIC Athletic Hall of Famer Charlie Wilkes '64 will be inducted into the N.E. Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor. Former players Gerald '71 and Donald Suggs will be enshrined as high school players. Former player Sean Reddy and graduate Jim Donaldson '40 will be honored as high school coaches.
